what is its significance?----------------------------------------------------------------

single umbilical artery is a soft marker for chromosomal abnormalities like trisomies
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
when this soft marker is isolated then its chromosomal association is less likely but fetal echo to do in such babies is important to rule out cardiac anomalies
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------when single umbilical artery is associated with other marker then amniocentesis is advised to rule out chromosomal abnormality
